Our first Project Box is all about the beautiful craft of hand-stitched bookbinding. Each kit includes everything you need to make five unique handmade books, exploring two traditional techniques — the pamphlet stitch and stab binding.
These methods have been used for centuries to create sketchbooks, journals, and notebooks by hand. The pamphlet stitch is a simple, elegant way to bind single-section books with thread, while the stab binding technique often seen in Japanese bookbinding creates striking decorative patterns along the spine. Both offer a calm, meditative making process and result in sturdy, beautiful books you’ll be proud to use or gift.
Each kit comes with heavily weighted coloured card and cartridge paper for your pages, plus a complete tool kit: a metal roller, mechanical pencil, awl, scissors, two bone folders, 10 metres of black wax thread, two binding needles, two clips, and a cork mat for safe use with the awl. We’ve also included a custom laser-cut jig for both the stab and pamphlet bindings making hole placement easy, repeatable, and accessible, even for beginners.
To make the experience extra special, every box includes a few surprises: a sticker, sweets, and a 3D-printed merit badge: a collectible piece that’s different for each monthly kit, celebrating a new making skill or fabrication technique.

Reviews
Cute little kit with all the equipment needed to make 5 different notebooks in two different sizes using a different stitching technique for each one. The how to videos are really easy to follow. I was really pleased with my finished books and as a bonus have the equipment to carry on making. Good value for money. I can’t wait for the next project box.
